National Walk to School and Bike to School Days (Annually in October and May)
Prep participates in the National Walk to School Day every October and National Bike to School Day every May. Prep promotes the events through school-wide announcements, and through partnerships with Live Baltimore and the Baltimore Family Alliance. These events encourage students to bike or walk while teaching them about the health and environmental benefits of biking and walking. It also helps raise community awareness about the importance of bicycle and pedestrian safety education, safe routes to school, well-maintained walkways, and traffic calming in neighborhoods around schools.
In 2019 Prep added an additional bike rack to encourage students to bike to school. In addition, Prep often takes advantage of its downtown location and schedules walking field trips to the Aquarium, Science Center, Reginald F. Lewis Museum, and Port Discovery. |

Learning Nights
Science Night at PREP encourages students and parents to engage with science and technology through hands-on activities and experiments. Each year, Science Night features a different theme and numerous activities for students to explore and learn.
During Wellness and Nutrition Night, parents and students participate in yoga, exercise activities, and family cooking. Families also learn how to incorporate wellness into everyday life. Students learn about healthy alternatives to sugary drinks and juices, and parents and students are provided with healthy recipes to prepare as a family at home. |
